We present a pilot citizen science project related to plant phenotyping (ie the measurement of how a plant behaves as a function of its genotype and interaction with the environment). Specifically this pilot initiative aims to introduce the public into a simple phenotyping task: counting leaves in images, and we kindly request your involvement:

Welcome to Target Leaves to Feed the World, where we ask you to help us target leaves in plants which will eventually help feed the world. We now use images to observe how plants grow and respond to a new environment and we need to measure these changes. One direct reaction we can measure is the number of leaves a plant has. Help us measure this reaction by identifying leaves in images.
