Recently five researchers from important Tunisian public research centers have been visiting ALSIA's Agrobios Research Center, training on new plant phenotype technologies by imaging. The activity was based on a collaboration between ALSIA, the CNR Department of Bio-Food Sciences and the Institute of Agronomy of Mediterranean in Bari (IAMB), within the project "Improving the management and conservation of Tunisian phyto-genetic resources".
ALSIA has got the only Italian platform for high-efficiency plant image capture and analysis. ALSIA is the main node and founding partner of the PhenItaly, the national initiative, joining the main Italian research institutes, including IAMB, interested in the development of plant phenomics, namely the high-efficiency phenotypic study of plants. ALSIA platform is also part of the Italian node of EMPHASIS Project, the European Strategic Research Infrastructure Initiative. The visit of the Tunisian scientists confirms the role that ALSIA's platform has as a Mediterranean reference for plant phenomics.
